What I have been up too lately....

First of all I was rather surprised when I checked my Email this morning and found that I had won a very exciting award....YES, you guessed it I am the new mother of the year this year!!! Check out this website http://news.cnnbcvideo.com and type Becky Clark in the box where it asks for the mom's name (you can also do this for yourself too).

This was sent to me by a friend to wish me a Happy Mother's Day and I thought it was too cute!!! Wouldn't it be nice if we all did get that recognition?

Well, just a quick recount of what has been going on in our lives the past couple of weeks.....

Anne has become quite the expert biker and runner. That girl continues to amaze me. We have been going on regular family bike rides through neighborhoods to get to E..... Orchard's Farm Market. Anne started off terrified of her bike just a few weeks ago and now I am struggling to catch up to her. We usually take our bike rides together with John, but since he was at work and the girls wanted to go on a bike ride after school I decided to brave it without him. Things were good until Anne's pedal fell off her bike and I had to do some quick bike repairs (which I am not good at). Then she couldn't stop in time at a stop sign and a lady who was probably going a little too fast had to slam on her brakes to miss all of us. So yes, at this point I am a very frazzled, screaming, stressed out mom (my mother of the year award is probably in jeopardy at this point) and poor Anne wants to know why we tried this without dad and can he come next time. We did make it to E... Market and back with happy kids that all had fist fulls of candy (that is my bribe to get them there) and Anne asks if we can please drive to E...Martket next time?

Anne has also amazed me on our local high school track. Not only does she run the track, but she runs all the stadium stairs during each lap (this is a work out that John and I do when we are trying to get in shape). I started off running with Anne not thinking that she could do more than 4 because the first time she did this she did 4 and I could only do 3. So this time John tells me I should do 8 (yikes!!!) and Anne is begging to go with me. We start out and Anne immediatly takes off despite my warning her to try to take it slow so she won't get tired. I chase her around the track and up and down all the stadium stairs for 6 laps and I finally said Anne you can stop now before you hurt yourself and she says "mom you can stop if you want". I have never seen anything like that before. To watch her be so focused, so determined and try so hard was absolutely amazing to me.

So yesturday Maggie wants to watch a video and she points to her My Little Poney Video...so I say "oh would you like to watch my Little Ponies?" and she says "no mom they are MY Little Ponies not yours" then I try to explain to her that "the name of the movie is My Little Ponies" and she says "Mom they are NOT YOUR little ponies...they are MY Little Ponies!!!" This went on until I finally agreed to say do you want to watch "YOUR Little Ponies"......YES!

Ohhh....Emma what am I going to do with you???? So my really good kid has been getting in trouble at school for little things like not cleaning up under her desk and for talking in class. SO I help with recess on Friday and she is sitting down with all the other kids who have lost recess time and when I walked up the look on her face was priceless...WHat is my mom doing here???? (she didn't know that I was coming that day). So we talk with her and then Tuesday morning she gets this guilty look on her face before school and asks .... "mom when do you help with recess this week?" and I said "well actually today...why do you ask?" Emma says "well because I forgot to tell you last night that I have to miss 3 minutes of recess again today for talking".....AGGGGHHHHH (not sure what sort of frustrated noise that would be...but you get the picture). So at this point in my dear child's life needless to say I am very frustrated (yes again my title of the mother of the year is at stake). So yesturday I get this phone call from a friend and she says "Hey Becky I was over subbing for Mrs. E and I just wanted to tell you.....(oh on I am thinking...what has she done now????) and you should be very proud of your daughter she was so polite and helpful and I just thought I should call you and tell you how proud you should be of her." Huuuhhh (sigh of relief) "thank you so much I really needed to hear that!!!" So I pick Emma up from school and as soon as she gets in the car I immediatly tell her that even if I am not at school I have friends that are there a lot and they let me know how my kids are doing in school. I couldn't quite read the expression on her face, but she looked a little surprised and worried until I said ...."Emma you should be so proud of yourself!!!!! I got a phone call and my friend said that you were so good today!!!!". So John and I proceeded to treat her that evening to a treat of her choice because we felt that it was very important to reward the good behavior. So Emma eats her popcycle all gone and then she can't sleep because her stomach is bothering her so I give her Tums...that doesn't help. She is getting very upset and anxiety is really starting to set in. Finally she comes out of her room and says "Mom I have to tell you something that happened at school today....I got in trouble in music class and had to put my name on the board. And I could get a demarit!!!!" Ohhhh, that is bad...no wonder why your stomach hurts....AGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Lily is continuing to grow physically and socially. It is so funny to see her get so excited when John walks in the door from work..."DAAADDDYyyy!!!!!" and she laughs and screams all at the same time. Lily has been spending time dumping boxes of cereal on the floor, leaving trails of smushed ripe and half eaten strawberries on the carpet, coloring herself and others (Maggie) and furniture with markers, finger painting the tables with yogurt, playing in the toilet bowls...yes we have been very busy!!!!
